There are a lot of famous Canadian Singers, and I would like to share some of their favorite love songs with you.<\/p>\n
1. Paul Anka\u00a0– Diana<\/a><\/p>\n I heard this song by Paul<\/a>\u00a0when I was a little boy in Salisbury, Rhodesia, and I also had a crush on an older woman. There was also a girl at school that I liked, and her name was Diana. So when my parents asked for a second name for my sister Valerie, I said \u201cDiana.\u201d<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0Lucille Starr \u2013 The French Song<\/a><\/p>\n This was a hit song by Lucille<\/a> when I was a teenager in Bulawayo. I didn\u2019t even know people spoke French in Canada until I came here.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Stu Phillips \u2013 The Great El Tigre<\/a><\/p>\n I heard this song by Stu Philips<\/a>\u00a0on a Jim Reeves record in Africa, and I always think of it when I see an old man sitting on a park bench.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0Hank Snow – The Gloryland march<\/a><\/p>\n The only time I heard of Hank Snow<\/a> in Africa was on a gospel record at a friend\u2019s house in Salisbury.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0Lorne Greene \u2013 An old Tin Cup<\/a><\/p>\n In Bulawayo I bought an LP record of Lorne<\/a> singing a bunch of western songs, and this is one of them. Back in 1976 when we visited America for the first time, we went to the Ponderosa ranch out near Lake Tahoe.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0Anne Murray \u2013 Could I have this dance<\/a><\/p>\n I guess Anne<\/a> is one of the most famous Canadian Singers. So many of her songs are so nice.<\/p>\n 7.\u00a0Ocean \u2013 Put your hand in the hand<\/a><\/p>\n I hear Ocean<\/a> many times on the radio here in Canada. This was a big hit in Africa for a Rhodesian singer.<\/p>\n 8.\u00a0Gene MacLelland \u2013 Snowbird<\/a><\/p>\n Anna Murray had a big hit with Gene\u2019s song<\/a>, but I feel I must put his name on here because he also wrote \u201cPut your hand in the hand.\u201d<\/p>\n 9.\u00a0Tommy Hunter \u2013 No Charge<\/a><\/p>\n I first heard this song by Johnny Cash, but I loved watching the Tommy Hunter<\/a> Show on TV back in the 80\u2032s.<\/p>\n 10.\u00a0Terri Clark \u2013 Easy on the eyes<\/a><\/p>\n One time when we were visiting the States, I kept seeing Terri<\/a> on the various TV\u2019s wherever we went. This is one of my favorite love songs of hers.<\/p>\n 11.\u00a0Shania Twain \u2013 Any man of mine<\/a><\/p>\n I remember seeing this video of Shania<\/a> when we were at Radio Shack many years ago. She was the top singer at the time.<\/p>\n 12.\u00a0Gordon Lightfoot – Did she mention my name<\/a><\/p>\n Gordon<\/a> is very popular in Canada. I love the words and the guitar playing in this song.<\/p>\n 13.\u00a0Ian and Sylvia \u2013 Four Strong Winds<\/a><\/p>\n Ian and Sylia<\/a> were big stars before I came to Canada, but as you can see from this video, they are very popular.<\/p>\n 14.\u00a0Michael Buble \u2013 Save the last dance for me – One of my favorite love songs by a Canadian singer<\/a><\/p>\n Michael<\/a> is very popular.<\/p>\n 15.\u00a0Bryan Adams \u2013 Everything I do<\/a><\/p>\n The crowd in this video make for mega excitement. Bryan<\/a> really socks it to them.<\/p>\n 16.\u00a0Celine Dion \u2013 If I can dream (with Elvis Presley)<\/a><\/p>\n I have read the book by Celine<\/a>. This is a mind boggling video of amazing technology of her singing with Elvis.<\/p>\n 17.\u00a0Liona Boyd \u2013 Baby Maybe<\/a><\/p>\n This video of Liona<\/a> is one of my wife\u2019s favorite love song videos.<\/p>\n 18.\u00a0Dan and Melissa David \u2013 Am Yisrael Chai<\/a><\/p>\n These folks sang at our church last year, so I want to invite you to give them a listen.<\/p>\n 19.\u00a0Justin Bieber \u2013 Boyfriend<\/a><\/p>\n I was watching this on TV the other night, and he remended me of a young Elvis. He is very popular among the girls!<\/p>\n 20.\u00a0Walter Ostanek \u2013 Beer Barrel Polka<\/a><\/p>\n He is the King of Polka in Canada.<\/p>\n 21.\u00a0Ronnie Hawkins \u2013 Ballads<\/a><\/p>\n Blue birds over the mountains. I\u2019ve heard that one on the radio a few times.<\/p>\n 22.\u00a0The Poppy Family \u2013 Which way you going Billy?<\/a><\/p>\n I heard this one during the week. Thank you.<\/p>\n 23.\u00a0Avril Lavigne \u2013 Complicated<\/a><\/p>\n Don\u2019t mess with her!<\/p>\n 24. Rita MacNiel – I’ll accept the rose<\/a><\/p>\n I have heard her a few times in the radio. She has such a nice voice.<\/p>\n 25. Guy Lombardo – Red roses for a blue lady<\/a><\/p>\n I was shocked when I read that he sold between 200 and 300 million records. Wow.<\/p>\n 26.\u00a0Gwen Shaw \u2013 I worship you<\/a><\/p>\n Sister Gwen has passed away now, but I remember when she played the piano so nicely. I suggested that she make a video of what she does with her fingers so we can learn from her.<\/p>\n 27.\u00a0Joni Mitchell \u2013 Both sides now<\/a><\/p>\n There are some lessons in this song.<\/p>\n 28.\u00a0Neil Young \u2013 Heart of gold<\/a><\/p>\n Over 17 million hits on this one.<\/p>\n 29.\u00a0Stomping Tom Connors \u2013 Bud the spud<\/a><\/p>\n I heard this one on the radio before. He really gets the crowd going!<\/p>\n 30.\u00a0Josh and Bethany Baltus \u2013 Holy Spirit<\/a><\/p>\n These folks are the grandchildren of our friends Lester and Elsie Tucker, and they shared this with us today, March 14, 2013. Don Foster – Don’t you worry<\/a><\/p>\n I have decided to put myself down as a Canadian singer too, because I have lived in Canada over twenty years and have written many songs while I have been here. I wrote this one about 15 years ago. I am a worrier by nature, so I wrote this song to try and help myself. I read a book once by Dolly Parton, where she said she has written many songs as a type of therapy for herself.<\/p>\n Don Foster – The Winning Side<\/a><\/p>\n Back in 1982 I was listening to R.W.Shambach on the radio, and his message had so much power, that I got inspired to write this song. Then I sang it that night in church. It was the Wednesday night prayer and Bible study meeting. The devil must have heard me singing it in the morning, because he sent two demon possessed men to church that night. When I was trying to give the Bible study, they both started shouting and calling me a liar. They were so loud, that I couldn\u2019t hear myself speaking, and had a microphone plugged into my amplifier, so I closed the meeting in prayer. I got so bugged by demon possessed people that I left the church, because the church didn\u2019t believe in casting out devils. If you look at the back of the Bible, you will see that God is going to win in the end, so to be on the winning side we need to be on God\u2019s side.<\/p>\n Don Foster – Canada Stands Tall<\/a><\/p>\n I wrote this song on Feb.5.2017. I was lying in bed trying to sleep and felt this song kept coming at me, so eventually I obeyed. I got out of bed, put the light on, and the whole song just flowed from the beginning to the end – 5 verses. I believe it was inspired by God!<\/p>\n 33.\u00a0Marty Allen<\/a><\/p>\n I was reading in the paper today that he is singing in Niagara Falls this week. (March 6.2014)<\/p>\n 34.
